Bark extract
Radiate Pine bark contains high concentrations of natural polyphenols which, properly extracted and processed, can serve as chemical intermediate product commercially attractive. At UDT, a new extracting process has been researched based on methanol as a solvent, which allows two fractions of distinct molecular weight. The light fraction is used as a replacement of phenol in wood adhesive resins and that of higher molecular weight as component of biomaterials for extrusion.
