Historia
The Technologic Development Unit (UDT) is a research and development center guided by the Research Department of the Concepción University. It started working in 1996 as the interface between university research and the requirements of national private sector. Its field of action is the applied research and development of technological innovations. Since its beginnings it has conducted important scale-up of processes, developed products, provided specialized technical service and executed numerous projects with the private sector in diverse fields. Its work has gone beyond Bio Bio Region, getting to build a strong national presence.
In 2007 UDT was one of the eight national institutions granted a Basal Funding Program by Comisión Nacional de Investigación Científica y Tecnológica, CONICYT. This program provides support to Scientific and Technological Centers of Excellence (CTCE).
The main field of CCTE-UDT is the research of technologies and related products with new use of forest biomass. It works along with professors of engineering and pharmacy faculties and other departments of the Concepción University and with other national and international research groups; in turn, it collaborates extensively with companies of the private sector.
UDT research areas are the following: Biomaterials, Bioenergy, Chemicals, Environment, Technological Management and Administration.
