Nanomaterials
A particular case, among composite materials, is the thermoplastic nanomaterials, this is to say, those containing a homogeneous dispersion of nanoparticles in a given thermoplastic matrix. Therefore, the areas of work UDT-CCTE focuses on are the following:
- Synthesis and characterization. Nanoparticles of clay and copper, products available in the market that are modified to bestow them certain characteristics. It is budgeted to expand the gamut of nanoparticles, including carbon nanotubes.
- Nanoparticles dispersion. Using pilot scale batch mixers as well as twin screw extruders. The basic objective is to mix the filler in a plastic homogeneously.
- Product development. The current main challenge of nanomaterials is the development of specific products with certain properties, required and valued in the market.
